Motivation for automation

Customers supplying machined parts to the automotive sector must meet the requirement for 100% quality control at high volumes and accuracies that would be unrealistic for manual inspection.

Project description.

The subject of the implementation was the development and delivery of equipment for 100% output inspection of turned parts. The main measured parameter is cylindricity (+-0.004mm) and additional parameters (lengths, diameters, runout, radius) are measured. The equipment was delivered in 3 pieces and has been in operation for 9 years in double-shift operation.

Job description:

  1. Parts are placed in a pre-stock with capacity for unattended operation for 1 shift
  2. The vibrating feeder moves and orients the parts to the pneumatic manipulator
  3. The measurement takes place in a set of 2 optical micrometers during rotations
  4. Parts are classified as OK/NOK and sorted
  5. The device collects data and communicates with the superior ERP system
