Motivation for automation

The customer specializes in the production of value-added auto glass for premium car brands. In terms of the properties of the glass car glass, the moulding operation is very demanding in terms of process conditions. With the goal of minimizing production NOCs, automation is the only possible way to run a safe and quality production.  

Project description.

The subject of the implementation was the development and delivery of a line for the soldering of connectors on premium car glass. The line is equipped with:

  1. Conveyor system with centering, preheating and cooling
  2. Robot for glass surface grinding and bin-picking for bulk connector selection with straightening
  3. Robot with flying head, camera guidance and 3D scanner for output inspection

Process Description:

  1. Glass arrives on the conveyor to the centering position
  2. Robot 1 grinds the surface to be soldered and picks up loose connectors
  3. Robot 1 places the coenactor in the straightening station
  4. Glass proceeds to the preheat position where the surface to be soldered is regulated to a specific temperature
  5. Camera-guided robot 2 removes the connector from the conveyor and attaches it to the glass
  6. Robot 2 carries out the soldering process including the output inspection
  7. The moulded glass leaves the conveyor to the cooling zone
