Motivation for automation

Customers supplying machined parts to the automotive sector must meet the requirement for 100% quality control at high volumes and accuracies that would be unrealistic for manual inspection. Due to the long-term contract and the enormous production volumes, a machine concept in the form of a single-purpose machine was chosen.

Project description.

The subject of the implementation was the development and supply of equipment for 100% output control of a family of tube nuts. The main measured parameter is the overall length and the presence of threads.

Process description:

  1. The parts are fed into a vibratory feeder (for high volume production) or manually (for small and fast series).
  2. The parts are centred at the infeed.
  3. Measurement of the overall length of the part is carried out.
  4. Camera inspection of the presence of splines and threads from 4 angles
  5. Parts are temporarily marked as OK/NOK
  6. Parts are sorted into outputs according to the measurement and camera inspection results
  7. The device collects data and communicates with the parent ERP system
