Motivation for automation

The customer mills parts for the automotive sector. The primary motivation for automation is to eliminate the risk of human factors affecting the quality or stability of production.

Project description.

The subject of the implementation was the development and delivery of equipment for full robotization of the machining process and subsequent pinning. The machining is carried out on two Chiron machining centres, which were equipped with a 6-axis robot that ensures the manipulation of parts between the centres. For the pinning operation, pinning equipment provided by the customer was used, which was fitted with a 6-axis robot and integrated into the line.

Process description:

  1. The input material is oriented in dies into pallet trays.
  2. Robot 1 grabs the pallets in 4 pieces and places them in the clamps on the carousel in the machining centres (robot places the second pallet during machining) - within the machining time the robot can service both centres
  3. Robot 1 stacks the machined parts on the transfer die
  4. Robot 2 removes the pieces and manipulates them to the pinning device
  5. The machine collects data and communicates with the higher-level ERP system
